Little or almost nothing is known about the Archivi Abissini manuscript ET-748a of the Biblioteca Marciana in Venice (BM). It is a small volume of twenty-four quarto-shaped parchment sheets, rudely sewn together and stored in a cowhide pouch, lined inside with Indian cheetah cloth.
It is a book in Ethiopian writing (i.e., an unsophisticated form of the fïdel syllabary), with several pages containing polychromatic illuminations, clearly referable to the so-called first Gondarian style, typical of the royal court art of the Ethiopian Orthodox Christians in the seventeenth century.
